PROBLEM: Fewer and fewer young people are reading the classics every year. Mostly, because they feel classic literature deals with themes, settings and issues they can’t relate to.
INSIGHT: Young people may not like classic literature, but there’s one ‘classic’ they do respond to: classic trainers.
IDEA: Penguin Books will partner with Reebok to launch the ‘Classics On Classics’ series. A limited edition run of white Reebok Classic trainers with excerpts from classic literature printed on them. Excerpts that young people can relate to–The Catcher In The Rye’s identity struggle, Brave New World’s view on technology, On The Road’s examination of travel and hedonism, and many more.
